Why Purpose-Built Subsonic Bullets Matter
Over the past decade, subsonic rifle shooting has evolved from a niche discipline into one of the fastest-growing segments of the hunting industry. Suppressors, improved rifle platforms and purpose-built cartridges have driven this growth, allowing hunters, pest control operators and recreational shooters to enjoy dramatically quieter shooting without sacrificing precision.
The 300 AAC Blackout remains the benchmark subsonic cartridge, while the newer 8.6 BLK has rapidly gained popularity by combining heavy .338-calibre bullets with extremely fast twist-rate barrels. Experienced reloaders have also developed successful subsonic loads for the .308 Winchester, 7.62×39, .338 Federal, .338 ARC, 375 Raptor, 45-70 Government and 458 SOCOM.
Yet one major challenge remained.
Most bullets available on the market were never designed to perform at subsonic velocities. Shooters often reduce the powder charge of conventional hunting ammunition to achieve quieter shooting, but the bullet itself was engineered to expand at much higher impact velocities. The result is frequently little or no expansion, poor energy transfer and inconsistent terminal performance.
This engineering challenge ultimately led to the development of the Peregrine Subsonic Bullet Series.

How the Peregrine Subsonic Bullet Was Developed
Nearly a decade ago, a leading American manufacturer of premium subsonic ammunition approached Peregrine with a challenge. Demand for suppressed hunting ammunition was growing rapidly, yet there was no monolithic bullet specifically engineered to perform reliably at true subsonic velocities.
Most existing bullets were simply conventional hunting bullets loaded slower. While they were accurate, they failed to expand consistently once impact velocities dropped below approximately 1,500 fps.
The objective was clear: develop a purpose-built monolithic projectile capable of delivering predictable expansion between approximately 700 and 1,050 fps, while maintaining excellent accuracy, reliable feeding and manufacturing consistency.
This collaboration eventually became the Peregrine Subsonic Bullet Series that is now used by hunters around the world.

Proven Performance in the Field
Designing a bullet is one thing. Proving its performance in the field is another.
Over the past decade, the Peregrine Subsonic Bullet Series has accounted for thousands of successful harvests across multiple continents. Hunters have used these bullets on everything from wild boar, whitetail deer and elk in the United States to Blue Wildebeest, Zebra and even Eland in South Africa.
Despite operating below the speed of sound, the purpose-built expansion mechanism delivers exceptional terminal performance. On impact, the bullet expands to nearly three times its original diameter while retaining enough weight to penetrate deeply through muscle and bone.
The result is rapid energy transfer, a large wound channel and reliable penetration, giving hunters the confidence to use suppressed rifles ethically on medium and large game where regulations allow.
Years of laboratory testing have now been validated by thousands of successful hunts across multiple continents, purpose-built subsonic bullets deliver dramatically more consistent terminal performance than conventional hunting bullets simply loaded to subsonic velocities.

Available Cartridges for the Peregrine Subsonic Bullet Series
The Peregrine Subsonic Bullet Series has been developed for many of today’s most popular suppressed hunting cartridges, ranging from compact modern platforms to traditional hunting rifles.

Whether you’re building a lightweight pest-control rifle, a dedicated suppressed hunting rifle or a heavy-calibre subsonic platform, there is a Peregrine bullet designed specifically for reliable terminal performance at subsonic velocities.

Experience the Difference of a Purpose-Built Subsonic Bullet
For nearly a decade, the Peregrine Subsonic Bullet Series has demonstrated that outstanding terminal performance at subsonic velocities is not achieved by reducing powder charges alone – it begins with a purpose-built bullet engineered specifically for subsonic performance.
